Artist Statement
My work is inspired by my surroundings.
This includes many subjects: river, rocks, walls, utility wires, trains and tunnels.
I am also inspired by the everyday happenings of nature: leaves, raking leaves, trees, growing things.
The everyday human-made items also interest me: tables, chairs, bowls, etc. Often these items serve as metaphor for emotions.
I paint primarily in pastel and acrylics, on an intimate scale. Most of my work is no larger than 16 x 20”.
I received a BFA from Carnegie Mellon University. My work appears in many private collections. I have resided in Harpers Ferry, West Virginia since 1970.
